Emotional regulation can be hard..
In my practice I see a lot of people whose emotions and life experiences have been framed, based on the nervous system they had at the time of said event/experiences.
This can mean that even despite my best work on your physical capacity to hold ‘stress’, emotions [particularly emotional memories], can hijack your responses and lead you into nervous system dysregulation. You might even call these triggers.
A really common response to my bodywork is that people feel they can experience more stressors, without it triggering them. They often say things like “that type of thing would usually set me off but I was able to sit with it and not react”. Which is AMAZING.
But? Sometimes those responses, reactivities, subconscious conditionings [really, whatever you want to call it], are the biggest cause of consistent dysregulation. And while I always say that awareness is step one [because if you don’t know what is triggering you in the first place, you can’t consciously make any changes], sometimes even with the awareness you will need some support on an emotional level.
Join us for online live EFT tapping sessions!
Ashleigh Marlow (my new Dr Carrie Team member) is a clinical EFT facilitator and will be guiding us through the technique. Tap along with Ash and release stored emotions and decrease your stress response.
This is such an easy, but very effective technique that anyone can do!
The sessions are online via Zoom and will go for 60 - 90 minutes, depending on attendance size and what comes up for everyone. Group sessions are powerful because they allow for co-regulation and shared healing.
Ash will walk us through the process, you just need to bring yourself.
What is EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) - Tapping?
Clinical EFT is a trauma sensitive, mind-body technique used to reduce stress, calm the nervous system and resolve trauma. Often referred to as ‘tapping’, the tool requires the participant to tap on emotional acupressure points around the face and body. Attention is placed on the issue at hand, with mindfulness of the embodied experience, and affirmations of radical acceptance.
Under the guidance of a trained facilitator, Clinical EFT has proven to relieve symptoms of PTSD, depression, anxiety, phobias, pain and cravings. The tool stimulates the vagus nerve and calms the amygdala, promoting relaxation, decreasing resting heart rate, blood pressure, reducing cortisol levels and inflammation, and improving concentration and cognitive function. Best of all, it’s easy to learn and easy to do!

October 21st (Mon) 10am AWST
This is different to group tapping - it is a workshop and will be recorded so you can go back and watch it, and do tapping on/with your kids
Please note as a group session, this is designed to meet with others who understand and empathise with your situation, and who can hold you in that space of corregulation. Some trauma and health conditions can be heavy - and this is not the place to unload onto others. If you feel you need deeper support, a 1:1 is recommended. “I have just finished an EFT session with Ash and I am feeling so serene and clear-minded. After a very troubling 6 months, I am holding a lot of physical and emotional tension and I can feel it softening and evaporating already. Ash is so knowledgeable and passionate about what she does and this makes her guidance magical. Thank you Ash for holding space while I continue along my healing journey.”
